Press release of Classis Central Ontario (Hamilton Blessings) convened on September 18, 2026

Rev. Greg Davidson, on behalf of the convening church, welcomed all the delegates and opened the meeting in a Christian manner. After examination of the credentials by the delegates of Redemption Church, Classis was constituted and those chosen to serve as executive took their positions. 
Chairman: Rev. Ian Wildeboer
Vice-Chairman: Art Beijes 
Clerk: Rev. Kwangyoung Park 
The agenda was adopted as is.

Memorabilia:
a.     Emeritus minister Dr. Van Dam, who continues to recover from his surgery. 
b.     Rev. John Van Popta, whose health continues to decline. 
c.     Blessings Christian Church as the congregation has temporarily relocated for approximately one year while extensive renovations are carried out on its church building. 

Reports: Each of the churches in turn reported on their foreign and local mission activities, giving opportunity for follow up discussion, and a time to celebrate how our triune God has blessed this work. Following each church’s report, their efforts were prayed over by a delegate from a neighbouring church.
Burlington-Fellowship reported that the classis archives have been inspected and were found to be in good order. 
Thanks was extended to the facilitator of the archives for his faithful work.
The Treasurer’s report was received and reviewed. The assessment proposal of $3 per communicant member was approved. The treasurer was thanked for his work. 
Redemption will provide a report on the Books of the Treasurer at the next Classis
The Committee for Needy Churches reported on its activities for the past year.  There has been no activity for the fund in the past year.  No assessments are required.  
Mrs. Aafke Spithoff will be stepping down as treasurer of the committee. An individual has been found willing to take her place. 
Redemption Church will provide a report on the inspection of the financial records at the next Classis meeting. 

Question period according to Article 44 C.O. was utilized. All churches affirmed that the ministry of the office bearers is being faithfully maintained, and the decisions of the major assemblies are being honoured. No Church requested assistance from Classis for the government of the church.

The existing appointments and committee memberships were reaffirmed without change, with the following exceptions:

Suggested officers for the next Classis:
a. Chairman: Rev. Gerrit Bruintjes
b. Vice-chairman: Elder delegate from Mercy Church 
c. Clerk: Rev. Winston Bosch
Delegates for Regional Synod East to be held on Nov. 18, 2026:
Ministers: Rev. Darren Feenstra and Rev. Clarence Vandervelde; alternates, Rev. Tony Roukema and Rev. Hilmer Jagersma (in that order).
Elders: Art Beijes and Andrew Baartman; alternates: John Jager and Barry Hordyk (in that order). 
Date of the next Classis was set as Dec 18, 2026 (alternate date of March 19, 2027)

Question period was held. 

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, a celebration will be held to mark the coming together of Ebenezer and Rehoboth Canadian Reformed Churches as Unity Canadian Reformed Church. Blessings Church will represent Classis at this occasion. 

Censure according to Article 34 C.O. was deemed unnecessary. The Acts were adopted. The Press Release was read and approved. 

Rev. Ian Wildeboer led in closing devotions and the meeting was closed.
