Press release of Classis Niagara (Grimsby Living Light) convened on December 17, 2025

On behalf of the convening church of Grimsby, Rev. Rolf den Hollander opened the meeting in a Christian manner. In prayer he remembered several items, including the passing away of Rev. G. Wieske, the upcoming of wedding of Rev. Zach VanderPloeg, the ordination of Rev. Joshua Schouten in the church of Dunnville West, the purchasing of the building of Dunnville West, the continuing sabbatical of Rev. Ruurd Offringa, the vacancy of the church of Smithville.

Upon the constitution of classis, the following were appointed to serve, as chairman: Rev. R. Vermeulen, as vice-chairman: Rev. D. Shin, and as clerk: Rev Z. VanderPloeg. 

After the adoption of the agenda, the chairman read the form of subscription, which was signed by Rev. J. Schouten who recently was ordained as pastor and teacher of the Church of Dunnville West. 

The chairman asked each of the churches the questions from Article 44 of the Church Order, with each of the churches answering in turn. 

A proposal from the church of Smithville was received and discussed. According to Article 40 of the Church Order, concurring advice was given for the constitution of the consistory Smithville South.

The following brother was appointed as a deputy for the Committee of Appeals: br. John Jongsma.

Classis appointed the Church of Lincoln as the convening church of the next Classis to be held on March 11, 2026. Suggestions for the officers of the next Classis were also made.

Personal question period was not made use of. The chairman judged with thankfulness that censure according to article 34 was not necessary. The Acts of Classis were read and adopted. The press release was read and approved. The chairman requested those present to sing, led in in prayer, and then closed the meeting.
