On behalf of the convening church of Willoughby Heights, Rev. K. Janssen welcomed the
delegates. Philippians 4:2-9 was read, and Psalm 122 was sung before Rev. Janssen led in
prayer.
After the convening church examined the credentials, a vote took place for the various
executive positions. The vote resulted in the appointment of Rev. J. VanSpronsen as
chairman; Rev. D. Vandeburgt as vice-chairman and Rev. R. Vanderhorst as clerk.
Regional Synod West was declared constituted, and it adopted the proposed agenda.
Synod went into closed session to consider an appeal. Synod sustained the appeal.
Synod received with thankfulness reports from its deputies in connection with the
examinations of candidates J. Peters, R. Gaillard and A. Tams. Synod also received a report
from its deputies in connection with the dismissal (Art. 11 CO) of Rev. D. deBoer as minister
of Abbotsford Canadian Reformed Church.
Synod further received reports from the following: a) the treasurer; b) the church
responsible for reviewing the books of the treasurer; and c) the church responsible for
inspecting the archives. The church responsible for inspecting the archives recommended
that materials for the archives be submitted in a timely manner and that the archives be
digitized since the church responsible for maintaining the archives has run out of room for
them. Synod requested that the church responsible for maintaining the archives present a
proposal around digitization.
Synod made the following appointments to various positions:

Synod appointed the Canadian Reformed Church of Carman West to make arrangements
for the next Regional Synod West to be held, the Lord willing, November 17, 2026 or, in the
case of cancellation, November 16, 2027.
The chair offered opportunity for the delegates to ask questions. After this part of the
meeting, he judged that censure according to Article 34 CO did not need to be exercised.
After the delegates decided to have the executive finalize the acts for adoption, they
approved this press release. The chairman read Ephesians 4:24-5:2 after which he led in
prayer. The delegates sang Hymn 10, and the chairman declared the meeting over.
