On behalf of the convening church of London, Rev. T. Van Beek opened the meeting in a Christian manner. In prayer, he remembered the needs of the churches in the classical region as well as the needs of the Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary. The credentials were found to be in good order and Classis was declared constituted.
As suggested by the previous Classis, the following brothers made up the executive: Rev. P. Holtvluwer, chairman; Rev. K. Kok, vice-chairman; and Rev. J. Temple, clerk. The chairman thanked the church of London for its work in preparation for this Classis.
At question period according to article 44 C.O., a church requested advice in a matter of pastoral oversight. Advice was given. The church of London requested advice about their relationship with the House of Prayer, a Congolese Christian fellowship. Advice was given.
An overture from Trinity Canadian Reformed Church of Glanbrook regarding the financial support of the American Reformed Church in Grand Rapids was discussed. The overture was amended and adopted. An ad hoc committee was appointed and is to report to the May/June 2025 Classis.
A request was received from Br. Arjan van der Meer, a third year student at the Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary, requesting permission to speak an edifying word within the Canadian Reformed Churches. Classis granted this requested based on his successful completion of a licensure examination by Classis North of the Free Reformed Churches of South Africa.
Classis made the following appointments:
a. Convening church for the next Classis: Ancaster Canadian Reformed Church; date March 5 with May 28 (reconvening on June 4) as the cancellation date; and suggested executive: Rev. K. Kok, chairman; Rev. J. Temple, vice-chairman; and Rev. T. Van Beek, clerk.
b. Classical Committee of Appeals: The churches brought forward only one name for this committee. As a result, this committee could not be appointed. The churches are urged to bring a sufficient number of names to the next Classis so that this committee may be constituted.
c. Classical Committee for Inter-Church Relations: Br. J. Janssens (convener), Br. P. Engbers, and Rev. J. Temple.
Personal question period was held. The chairman determined that censure according article 34 C.O. was, thankfully, not necessary. After having the body sing, the chairman led in thanksgiving prayer and Classis was declared closed.
For Classis Ontario West of December 11, 2024,
Rev. K. Kok, vice-chairman e.t.
