Press release of Classis Central Ontario (Hamilton Blessings) convened on October 18, 2024

On behalf of Blessings Christian Church, Rev. Greg Davidson opened the meeting in a Christian manner. In prayer he remembered some of the needs in the classis and in the Free Reformed Churches of Australia.

The credentials were found to be in good order and Classis was declared constituted.

A Colloquium was held with Rev. Richard Eikelboom in regards to his calling as Missionary to Papua New Guinea by the Bethel Canadian Reformed Church at Toronto. All necessary documents relating to this calling were received, examined and found to be in order.

The Rev. Dr. Bill Dejong engaged Rev. Richard Eikelboom in matters pertaining to doctrine, missions and ecclesiology and Rev. Hilmer Jagersma followed with a conversation regarding church polity, specifically regarding the Provisional church Order for the churches in Papua New Guinea.

Classis judged the colloquium was satisfactory and approbated the call. Installation service for Rev. Richard Eikelboom is set for November 3rd, 2024 during the 9:30 morning worship service. Ebenezer church was appointed to represent classis at the installation service.

Personal question period was utilized. With thankfulness, the chairman declared that censure according to Article 34 CO not necessary. The Acts were read and approved, while the Press Release will be formulated and approved by the executive. 

The chairman led in thanksgiving prayer and classis was declared closed.
