On behalf of the convening church Rev. Daniel Shin opened the meeting in a Christian manner. The following officers were appointed: as chairman Rev. Rolf den Hollander, as vice-chairman Rev. Rodney Vermeulen and as clerk Rev. Daniel Shin.
The agenda was adopted as presented and the chairman asked each of the churches the questions of Article 44 of the Church Order. All churches confirmed that the ministry of the office-bearers is being continued and that the decisions of the major assemblies are being honoured. Dunnville West, Grassie and Smithville sought advice from classis. In each case advice was given, and as appropriate, in closed session.
The treasurer’s report was received with thankfulness and the audit report from Grassie confirmed that classis’ finances are in order. Dunnville East submitted an audit report for the classis’ archives. One item was missing but has since been added.
Appointments were made including delegates to Regional Synod East 2024 as follows: minister delegates, as primary: Rev. John Louwerse; Rev. Rodney Vermeulen; as alternates in order: Rev. Rolf den Hollander; Rev. Ryan Kampen; elder delegates, as primary: brs. Rick Nordeman; Brian Van Andel; as alternates in order: brs. Harold Olij; James Van Amerongen.
Upon the request of Dunnville East the date for the next classis was set for 23rd October 2024 for the purpose of conducting the peremptory examination for br. Zachary Vanderploeg, with the convening church being Attercliffe. The next regular classis was set for December 11th 2024 with alternate date being March 19th 2025.
After question period the acts were adopted, the press release was approved and Rev Rolf den Hollander lead in closing devotions and closed classis.
